Therapy Services

Counselling and Psychotherapy

Laurinda Cheng (she/her), M.Ed.

I believe it takes great courage to explore our experiences, confront our problems, and dare to change ourselves and our lives.  I am here to walk alongside you in this journey, to support your self-discovery, well-being, and growth.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (#009137) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.  I am based in Ottawa providing virtual counselling and psychotherapy services in English to individuals 18 years of age and older who are residents of Ontario.

I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship based on presence, empathy, and trust is the foundation that promotes change.  I aim to provide a warm, non-judgemental space where we can collaboratively explore and deeply engage with the issues and concerns you have brought to therapy.

I work from an anti-oppressive, feminist, and multicultural stance. I use an integrative approach that explores a person’s past, present, and future using principles and techniques from Attachment Theory, Mindfulness-based therapies, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Existential Therapy. I also use somatic practices that acknowledge the mind-body connection.

I welcome clients of all backgrounds.  I am allied to the BIPOC, LGBTQ, non-monogamous, and kink communities.  Some of the areas I have experience working with are trauma, depression, anxiety, consensual non-monogamy (e.g. polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, open relationships), sexual concerns, identity issues, self-harm, self-esteem, body image, relationship and family problems, and grief and loss.

NOTE: During the COVID-19 Pandemic I will be providing sessions by telephone and video to promote the health and safety of clients.
